Filtering harmonic currents of DC drives and improving process reliability in an adventure park

Rides in a large adventure park in Finland were fed by DC drives. The drives were causing power quality problems such as harmonic distortions, voltage fluctuations and commutation notches. Problems were particularly high on certain rides fed with DC drives. These particular rides were disturbing even other rides in the park. Active harmonic filtering solutions were rated after a third-party power quality audit. The Merus low voltage A-series active harmonic filters were installed parallel to the loads, which effectively reduced harmonic distortions and other power quality issues in the park. The other rides and devices now function unaffected, and people who visit the adventure park can safely enjoy the reliable rides.
